Working in close partnership with Perth & Kinross Council, hub East Central Scotland has delivered a brand new primary school in Perth in this £8.5 million capital project.

Best value in a new building

The original school was built in the 1960s but was no longer fit for purpose, and the proposal to construct a new building offered best value against the spiralling costs of maintenance and repair.

The new building was constructed on the playing fields of the original school, which allowed pupils to continue lessons in their classrooms throughout the construction phase. Once complete, the original school was demolished to create new all-weather pitches.

The new 4000m2 school was built over two storeys. Its contemporary flat roof is home to a roof terrace, and the building itself incorporates an integrated nursery and learning resource centre, as well as a general-purpose room and various break-out areas.

Built by BAM Construction to designs by Holmes Miller, the school is perfectly conceived to help Oakland Primary School achieve its key aim of providing high-quality education that encourages pupils to learn and develop skills. We have created a welcoming, secure learning environment for pupils and staff alike.

This major education initiative was delivered on time and within budget, and provides high standards and excellent value for the community that it serves.
